I didn’t understand the meaning of this title at first. As a matter fact, I thought the tile was disrespectful and blasphemous to the Bible. Then I found out that the author is breaking the Bible down in parts making it easier to read. Duh! Now the title makes sense The Bible is Broken Down. Oh my God! I just recently got it. I mean I criticized the title of this book out of the gate. Man, was I wrong! it is fun.
My son suffers from a serious case of ADHT. Our family of eight, we all love him passionately, but he is a serious danger to himself and others at times.
A family friend dropped by to visit one day, and after visiting for a short while, she got up to leave. She left behind on the dining room table a thick book titled, The Bible is Broken Down--by accident or on purpose. I wasn't sure.
But that book sat there on that table for days and days, until one day, my son, during one of his fits of rage, angrily picked up the thick book, standing less than a foot from his sister, intended to throw it at her head, in hopes of fatally wounding her. But for some unknown reason, he dropped the book, fell to his knees and cried out, “I don’t want to be this way no more!”
I don’t want to say that the book had anything to do with anything, but suddenly he was calm, and he has been for some time since that day. My son will probably always need to take medication for this disease as long as it is in him.
When I told the friend who had left the book behind what happened, she told me that some people believe that the author of this book, while writing this book, was blessed with the divine gift of Peace-of-Mind, meant to touch those whose hands the book passes through.
My son is not perfect, but he is thriving every day. He has been getting along in the world like a normal person for a couple of years now, to the point that we don’t worry so much anymore. Some peace is better than no peace at all. Nothing is perfect, because from time to time the disease tries to rear its ugly head.
So, in those times, when my son is trying to calm himself, he will hold the book or flip through its pages nonchalantly, but he knows, as does everyone in our family, the book only works hand-in-hand when he is taking his medication.
Good luck to everyone who has to deal with this disease and its effects.
"Even in turmoil, we must seek out a Peace-of-Mind"
(NeNe Nelson, The Bible is Broken Down)
